Rehabilitate and restore
Return to the activities you love

What is women’s health physiotherapy?

Women’s health physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of problems affecting the pelvis and the pelvic floor. The most common problems include bladder problems, bowel problems, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain including pain in and around the pelvis. Women's health physiotherapy helps women during the peri and post menopause and provides rehabilitation for women after gynae surgery and after gynae cancer.

Problems in the pelvic area can occur at any stage of a woman’s life. They are common but are not normal. Due to the lack of information, and a culture of embarrassment around these problems, women often assume their symptoms must be tolerated. This is absolutely not the case. They are all highly treatable with physiotherapy. However, it is important to understand women’s health physiotherapy is more than just relieving symptoms. It is also about guiding women back to full strength, so they feel well and confident, and can safely return to the activities they enjoy, including exercise.
