What is women’s health physiotherapy?
Women’s health physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of problems affecting the pelvis and the pelvic floor. The most common problems include bladder problems, bowel problems, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain including pain in and around the pelvis before and after having a baby as well as pain during intercourse. Women's health physiotherapy also helps women during the peri and post menopause.
Problems in the pelvic area can occur at any stage of a woman’s life. They are common but are not normal. Due to the lack of information, and a culture of embarrassment around these problems, women often assume their symptoms must be tolerated. This is absolutely not the case. They are all highly treatable with physiotherapy. However, it is important to understand women’s health physiotherapy is more than just relieving symptoms. It is also about guiding women back to full strength, so they feel well and confident, and can safely return to the activities they enjoy, including exercise.
What can women's physiotherapy help with?
Pregnancy and Postnatal
Low back pain, pelvic pain, postnatal tears, after Caesarian section, leaks of urine/faeces, pelvic organ prolapse, tummy gap, guidance with returning to activities including sports.
Meet Your Physiotherapist
Hello! I'm Jessica, thank you for visiting my website. As a highly trained and specialised musculoskeletal physiotherapist, I specifically help women overcome the impact of a poorly functioning pelvic floor. This important area of the body is often neglected but actually needs to function very well for good health and wellbeing. I know from experience that tailored physiotherapy can often resolve pelvic floor problems - they are not something women should have to live with.
I look forward to meeting you, assessing the problem and putting together a plan to help you return to the activities you enjoy.
Thank you so much for your WONDERFUL support. I feel so privileged and so very grateful.
Thanks again for your help. I still can't believe how much better I am so thanks again for all your support.
I really feel like you are taking my complete gynae health history on board to get to the root of issues and improve things. Such a relief for me, thank you for continued time and expertise.
